I was born and raised in Cape Porpoise, Maine, just a few miles away from Kennebunkport, where George Bush Sr. and his son, George W. used to, and still do, spend their summer vacations.

All my neighbors were fishermen. All my teachers were members of the Dead Poet Society. Full of vision and dreams of making this world a better place. Naturally, I followed in their footsteps, becoming extremely involved in the anti-nuclear movement with the ClamShell Alliance. The Seabrook Nuclear Power plant was on our agenda. We intended to shut it down. On June 4th, 1989, we succeeded, but not before many of us were arrested and beaten by the facist police who believed we were terrorist funded by the communist party.

Sound familiar?

Later, after demonstrating in New York City and Washington D.C, where I was arrested for chaining myself, along with dozens of others, to the doors of Wall Street and the Nuclear Regulatory Commissioner's office, I started to realize there was power in Civil Disobedience.

Since I was a rock climber, I migrated to the west coast in pursuit of the never ending summer, spending quality time in Joshua Tree National Park, Yosemite Valley, and Red Rock Canyons, just outside Las Vegas, Nevada. Little did I know, my life was about to change.

On the morning of November 21, 1980, 84 people died and 679 were injured as a result of a fire at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. This was the second largest life-loss hotel fire in United States history, and I was there. From my perspective, it was obvious the firemen were incapable of reaching the people who were trapped on the balconies beyond the reach of the extension ladders. I kept waiting for a some-sort of rescue operation to start commencing, like I had witnessed in Yosemite Valley, but nothing happened. There were a few brave firemen snatching people off the upper balconies with rescue baskets, but other than that, it was starting to look like a lot of people were going to loose their lives.

I had to do something. No longer could I stand idly by and watch people die. Finally, after witnessing a lady fall to her death with a burning bed sheet still clutched in her hand, I ducked beneath the police barricade, and approached one of the fire chiefs, naively believing he might be receptive to some of my rescue ideas.

Unfortunately, he wasn't in the least bit interested, and ordered a police officer to haul me away saying..."Until you climb one of these buildings, I don't want you telling me how to rescue people in burning buildings. Do make myself clear?"

He made himself perfectly clear. From that moment on I knew what I had to do. I had to climb a building. For the full story, you'll have to read my book, but this much I can tell you, from the moment I started climbing all the World's Tallest Buildings, I began warning the public that the time would come when terrorist would start targeting our towering skyscrapers.

But no one in the White House was willing to listen, especially the Vice President, George Bush Sr., who was hell bent on defeating the Soviet Union in Afghanistan with the aid of BIN LADEN!

Starting to see some parallels here?

When 9/11 happened, I tried to get through to the fire departments. I wanted to warn them not to rescue the people from inside the building, that they should rescue them from the outside. But I wasn't able to get through. I called more than a dozen networks, and was on the phone with a reporter from one of the Las Vegas television stations, when the first tower collapsed.

From that moment on, I knew what I had to do, I had to get the Skyscraper Defense Act passed. I wrote letters to the President. I wrote letters to Tom Ridge with Homeland Security. I even did a show with VH1 that built a 1/2 hour show around my pursuit to get this bill passed. But nobody would listen. Instead of dealing with George Bush Sr., I was now dealing with his son.

When it became obvious that HomeLand Security was a scam and that George W. Bush was using 9/11 as an excuse to launch a preemptive attack against Iraq, I knew what I had do.

I launched this website...Defenders of the Planet - with the hope of uniting the world to a common cause.

If you would like to become a Defenders of the Planet, then I'm urging you and everyone on this planet to get involved. Together we can improve the human condition and make this planet the greatest place to live in the entire universe.

It is time for us to UNITE...not FIGHT!

May we all live in Peace.
